About Us
J. Tayloe Emery spent five exciting years as the Director of Creative Development at DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa) and The ONE Campaign, two organizations founded by U2's Bono (along with Jamie Drummond and Bobby Shriver) that advocate for African justice and poverty issues. There he managed creative output as their team worked to get poverty and AIDS into the American line of sight by working with Hollywood produced popular and independent film, new media, music and television productions. In late 2008 Tayloe formed the JTE Creative Group to better assist the various campaigns, organizations and non-profits that were taking form.
While at DATA (later merged into ONE) Tayloe managed celebrity and VIP acquisition & education and developed creative outlets with their supporters to get a powerful anti-poverty message out to the American public. He and his team were fortunate during this time to engage and develop many of the world’s top actors, artists and sports figures into the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty.
Lawrence Altaffer served at DATA and ONE for three years as the Senior Web Manager before leaving to head up the Los Angeles office of the JTE Creative Group in Summer 2008. He has produced and directed award winning websites for both organizations including running traps behind the scenes for their Live 8 coverage from Philadelphia. He also managed the development and design of websites for the Matt Damon produced and narrated film "Running The Sahara," Charlie Engle's "Running America 08", and The Menokin Foundation. Rooted in strong traditional design principles, Lawrence has excelled at implementing the latest technology trends to create the most effective outcomes.
Drill Down
In 2004-05, Tayloe helped organize, manage and photograph both of Brad Pitt's trips to Ethiopia and South Africa, later televised to 11 million viewers on ABC's Primetime Live with Diane Sawyer. He later traveled with DATA through Zambia, South Africa and Tanzania with actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck; Ghana and Uganda with New England quarterback Tom Brady; Nigeria, Lesotho and Rwanda with U2’s Bono and NBC’s Brian Williams; and trekked through the Sahara Desert outside of Timbuktu, Mali and into Mauritania with Marc Joubert, Charlie Engle, National Geographic and the “Running The Sahara” expedition.
In Winter 2005 in the run up to the Live 8 concerts, and while hunkered down on a plane over the middle of Africa, Tayloe, Jamie Drummond and Erin Thornton conceived the idea of the original ONE by ONE television commercial starring a who's who of celebrity activists (Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Diddy, Jamie Foxx, Penelope Cruz, Al Pacino) that was nominated that year for a “Best Commercial” Emmy. Produced by Tayloe Emery, Seth Amgott and Radical Media, the commercial was the first HIV/aids PSA ever broadcast over a major network during prime-time television hours (ABC) and was road-blocked across all Viacom, Fox and CBS properties helping secure over 2 million sign-ups to the ONE campaign and helped pave the way for the Gleneagles summit's important G8 commitments.
JTE and his colleagues at DATA followed that up in 2007 with another award winning commercial for the ONE Campaign to kick off the election season with actors Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, singer Toby Keith, Bishop Blake, journalists George and Nick Clooney and the field general, Mr. Tom Brady handling the ball in the backfield.
Tayloe and his team have been working of late with The World Wildlife Fund on Earth Hour 2010; the Take The Walk Foundation; alongside Dr. Spencer Wells and The National Geographic Society on their Genographic Project; planning a concert on Mt Kilimanjaro with the Love Hope Strength Foundation; working with the African Children's Choir on a creative fundraising campaign and producing two benefit concerts with the choir children, first in Austin, Tx and the second in Nashville that was called Nashville4Africa . Last year JTE worked as a producer for Live Earth and Live Earth India and as a producer and talent specialist with Ampersand Global and Nick Negroponte's One Laptop Per Child . We thank all of our clients for their support and applaud the brilliant work they are doing around the world.
